Frequently Asked Questions

How many books will be in the series?

My plan has always been for there to be 7 books following the central arc of the story and Lyr’s journey, and so far that hasn’t changed. Currently 3 books of this arc have been published: Daughter (1), Guardian (2), and Lady (3), and the title of book 4, Warrior, has been announced. There are also 4 companion/prequel novels in the works revealing Rhyan’s POV. These include the published Solstice of the Drowned Empire (0.5), Son of the Drowned Empire (1.5), and the upcoming Bastard of the Drowned Empire (2.5) and Lord of the Drowned Empire (3.5).

Do I have to read the companion novels/prequels to enjoy and understand the story?

The books are written so that you can stick to the main story’s 7 book arc if you want. But, the companion and prequel novels all contain deep character development, reveal secrets, plot twists and lore that add to the story I’ve woven together. They add another level to the series, but are not required for following the central plot so you can read as much as you want.

Will there be a 4.5?

Rhyan’s POV novels will conclude as of now in 3.5, but his POV will be added to the main series so don’t worry you’ll still get his thoughts in Warrior. But I do have a 4.5 planned out that will introduce a new POV of a character in the Drowned Empire world.

What is the reading order?

If you’re reading the main series only, then I’d read them in series order/publication order: 1, Daughter; 2, Guardian; 3, Lady.

If you’re reading all of the books, then you’ll want to read in publication order only: 1, Daughter; 2, Guardian; 3, Solstice; 4, Lady; 5, Son.

Where can I get signed copies of the Drowned Empire series?

I have them available here in my shop. But you can also get signed books at any of my upcoming in-person events. Check my events schedule here!

Are the books spicy?

Yes. But it’s a slow burn, so it’s mostly steam and a little spice at the beginning, but as you progress the books become spicier and do contain graphic scenes.

Does the Drowned Empire series have any content warnings?

Yes. The series is considered new adult and does contain mature themes, content, and some sensitive and/or triggering topics to be aware of before beginning the series. Detailed content warnings are in the opening of each book. Not every book contains every theme, but these are some of the warnings listed in the books:

Violence, physical torture, narcissistic and emotional abuse, sexual assault, depression, grief, loss of a family member, panic and anxiety attacks, as well as examples of misogyny.
